I've tried both doc/docx and xls/xlsx, and they work on my local hard drive, but not on a network location. Everything works fine except for the Windows Explorer preview pane with.xlsx files.Any help is appreciated! Hi folks, I've noticed that all BUT xls files on a NETWORK location work fine. The Excel files open just fine and can be edited in Excel fine. I've already tried repairing Microsoft Office and that hasn't solved the problem. All it says is 'No Preview Available' in the pane.All other Microsoft office file types can be previewed file, along with many other file types such as., etc. The problem is that we can't preview any.xlsx file in the Windows Explorer preview pane. I've got a Windows 7 Pro computer with Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2016. ![]() Before there was a crazy long hex code in the Value field that was the problem. At the very bottom of the list is the Microsoft Excel Previewer entry. Change selection and select another xlsx file - excel crashes. Click “Show the Preview pane” in OpenFileDialog window and select some xlsx file - file is shown in preview. Click button to open OpenFileDialog window. ![]()
